How to install Oracle Java JDK on Ubuntu Linux (14.04 LTS) - Learn Online

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-installer

ensure your JAVA_HOME variable has been set to:
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-oracle

  4. After completing 58% it wouldn't proceed anymore.When I want to re-install it again , it shows this error after executing the 3rd command : Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
    Moreover when i was going to download the jvm file which was created on first installetion time, this file can't be deleted.What should i do now ?

    i am trying to install in ubuntu 16.04 in second step it says 0 percent it says connecting us.ubutu... and nothing is going after plz help me

  19. help me after performing 2nd command no update are showing instead it shows

    [email protected]:~$ sudo apt-get update
    E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
    E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/
    E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)

  22. after i copy and paste the first command this shows up "k****** is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported." can anyone please tell me why does this show up?
